In the music video for Elastic Heart by Sia we are introduced to two people, an adult male and young girl trapped inside a giant bird cage. In my opinion I believe that this video mainly amplifies the lyrics, as there is no real show of illustration of the lyrics throughout, since there is no lip syncing or matching visuals to go a long with the lyrics. Therefore, it is purely down to the audience to interpret their own meaning from the video's connotations. For example the setting of the shot in the mise-en-scene being inside of a cage, can be representative of the someones state of mind, suggesting how they are trapped inside and have noway of escaping to free thought. It is also arguable that the man and girl represent a father and daughter, and how the father is abusive and represented like a monster, as he chases the girl around wildly and aggressively, but then also how he is caring and protective, such as how he carries her and dances with her expressing his love for her.
