The new wave video I created was centred around the morning routine of someone and their inner thoughts as they go through the process of waking up to meeting some friends. When it came down to making it I feel it went rather well as I did manage to capture the morning routine clearly, and the use of hand held and point of view camera techniques really helps capture the idea that we are inside the head of this person. This fits the new wave style as it is an unusual perspective and not something that would be seen in mains stream cinema as there is no narrative or main story to the film. To also fit new wave style I took inspiration from my neo realism research as explained in the brief, and so I recorded audio post editing and made it seem as if we were inside the head of the character. However when recording the audio we were slightly off with the timing which I tried to correct as best as I could in the editing software. In my personal opinion I believe the strengths of my video are that is does have some good characteristics of new wave such as the long takes, jump cuts and audio recorded post edit, and these techniques are seen quite often throughout the video. However the weaknesses are that i could have probably done more in terms of lighting techniques and camera techniques, as well as make the video a bit longer and also edit it all together smoothly as some areas have sudden cuts during an action, but this could also be seen as new wave.
