Lighting Techniques

I enjoy this video example of split/edge lighting because of how well the technique worked and the simplicity behind it, with the only requirement being a light on one side of the face of the subject being featured. This technique can give off an eerie feeling in a film and can have many connotations for characters that are lit this way.

This technique is identifiable by the small triangle that is lit under the persons eye that is in the shadow. This worked reasonably well for my first time trying to replicate this lighting technique  as you can see the triangle underneath the eye however the shadow isn't very dark and some light is still coming through.

This technique is noticeable by the small shadow that is cast under the subjects nose, this is accomplished by positioning the light pretty much above the subject and angling it so the nose casts a shadow. I feel that it went well and worked o.k however I could have brought the subject forward a bit more in order to get the shadow to be more defined.

This clip is an example of low key lighting, and is noticeable by being significantly darker and having more shadows, this was done by only having one light source and then dimming it to the lowest setting. Shooting in this light however is not easy as to balance exposure on the cameras the iso had to be put higher resulting in noisier footage.
